Traffic Unit
Traffic volume throughout the Village of Shorewood has steadily increased since 2000. Driver and pedestrian safety through traffic education and enforcement is a priority for the Shorewood Police Department. Two officers are dedicated solely to the traffic program and they coordinate enforcement and education efforts with the entire patrol division.
Our educational efforts are growing rapidly and include programs such as:
- The Illinois Association of Chiefs of Police Traffic Safety Challenge
- Keep Kids Alive Drive 25
- Resident Radar Program
- Saved by the Belt Program
