Will County Gang Suppression Unit
The Shorewood Police Department and the Will County Sheriff’s Office have a partnership stretching back several decades in which we cooperate on a wide variety of issues.  The Sheriff formed a Gang Suppression Unit in 1995 comprised of deputies and officers from local municipalities to identify, monitor and apprehend gang members, with the intent to and eliminate their criminal activity.  The Shorewood Police Department contributes manpower to this shared endeavor to keep our collective communities safe by pooling manpower, resources, and intelligence.

Will County S.O.G.

The Shorewood Police Department maintains an intergovernmental agreement for Special Weapons and Tactics (SWAT) services with the Will County Sheriff’s Office.  The Sheriff’s Office Special Operations Group (SOG) provides SWAT service on an as-needed basis to the Shorewood Police Department.  Additionally, the Shorewood Police Department provides one officer to the SOG on a part time basis.

Honor Guard
The Shorewood Police Honor Guard, formed in 2020, was established to provide honor and professionalism at various events within the Village of Shorewood and surrounding communities. Officers from across all divisions of the police department make up the Honor Guard and receive specialized training to render the appropriate honors at these events.

The Honor Guard participates in events such as parades, holiday ceremonies and officer funerals. Their participation ranges from the presentation of colors to flag folding and three-volley salutes via the rifle detail.

Members of the Shorewood Police Honor Guard take great pride in this commitment and embrace each and every opportunity to provide respect and honor to our country, fallen officers and fallen members of our armed forces.
